:) was it not also usable as a computer , if i remember that right it had a logic board of macintosh's from that time with some alterations , but could be used for internet access and OS 8 would run on it , only not meant to be a macintosh , so i guess apple placed it in the wrong market ,instead of selling it as a games console they should have sold it as a macintosh able to be used as a games console could have been a hit :D

Recently I've been having major problems with my Airport (PowerBook G4) -- a lot of stalls and stops when opening even the most basic webpages. Does anyone here have any idea why this is happening?
Are there other wireless networks in the area of yours? Perhaps they are causing interference. Do you live in an apartment or house? What room of your apartment/house are you in with regard to where the airport is located?
Interference Robustness is supposed to help your airport card deal with interference (but shortens your range). My first impression is that something (or someone) is causing interference. Check and see if you pick up any other wireless networks when you go to connect to yours.
I don't own an Airport base station, but I would guess it has similar features to most other routers (firewall, mac filtering etc) - you may wish to play around with its settings (specifically anything related to 'channels') with regard to interference issues and other wireless networks.
Just some ideas.

I thought about the Air, especially considering I'll be buying an SSD to replace the HDD in the MBP, however the 4GB of RAM and the older Core 2 Duo processors kinda scared me away. Now if the MBA has a refresh before we get back in July I'll definitely look into it...
As was your +1 for the $1199 13" or $1499 13"
Aaron
The updated Air may be available around the time you get back home, so that might be an option to consider.
And thank you for serving. It is appreciated and I wish you a safe trip back home.

Yep, I said non-slim. Reason being, I have a smaller shoulder bag for it on a day to day basis. But the bag doesn't hold much. So if I want to take it in my book bag, either of the bags I have, have larger pockets for laptops.
So I either am looking for a case that is hard and larger, or a book bag with a better (smaller) pocket for a thin laptop.
I've spent hours on Google but I keep finding the manila carrying case for example...I don't want something like that.

Its pretty easy to put on the SGP protectors. A word of advice is to do it in a bathroom after running a hot shower for a little until it steams up a bit. This will make sure there is as little dust as possible flying around.
If you do get some dust under the screen, use two pieces of duck tape. Put one on the protector to lift it up and then the second piece to grab a hold of the dust. I just took two pieces of dust out from underneath my Ultra Optics SGP.

Now that I have a great new white iPhone 4, I'm taking a wait and see approach.
It has nothing to do with the color, but rather how great this new model is.
Normally I trust Apple and pre order the moment they release each new iPhone. But after getting burned with Antennagate, I'm not taking the risk.
Another shocker is how many improvements the new white iP4 has. It's far and away the best of all smartphones.
The performance as a phone is wonderful. Loud and clear, it doesn't drop calls. So now that I have a great iPhone there's no reason to get iPhone 5.
I'm going to enjoy this one till iPhone 6.
You keep posting this drivel.
This is not a new iPhone only a new color.
There is nothing any more spectacular about it.
We black iPhone users have been using it for 10 months now.

Now, iMac is at 15 hours. I do a weekly restart on it. My Windows 2008 server is running strong, 218 days. Would be longer, but I think it turned off because my battery UPS protector wasn't able to last very long. Only about 5 mins or so and the power was out longer. :(

Just wondering if it would be effective to use iDisk as a small CDN (Content Delivery Network) for a website?
I have a website with fairly high traffic and am working to make it as fast as possible. One of the things I am considering is using a CDN for static files. My mostly vacant iDisk account popped into my head as a possible contender. I was wondering if anyone else had tried this?

I recently bought a 64GB iPod Touch 4G from the US which I had shipped to me in the UK via a friend in the US.
I've since jailbroken it and installed various jailbroken Apps; some of which were available previously until "Herr Jobs" in his infinite wisdom decided that Apps of bikini-clad girls were a bad thing even though most of them were ones people paid a small fee for!
I downloaded these Apps from a certain infamous site which shall remain nameless and some of them have updates which aren't available on said certain infamous site.
I have no problem buying legitimate copies of these Apps but the main problem is that whenever I try to buy them via the App Store on my iPod Touch and I get a message saying that I'd get a discount if I buy the upgraded version, it won't let me buy them!
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem short of uninstalling the jailbroken versions of the updated Apps and buying the legitimate versions...

I'd suggest that you add some screenshots at every step, at least it'll be easier to follow and gives people reassurance that they're on the right track.

I think I'm onto something good. Have you heard of the 5 stages of grief? If you learn you have a fatal disease or a loved one has a fatal disease (also applies to relationships) you go through 5 stages: denial, resentment, bargaining, depression, acceptance. With that in mind, here are the Five Stages of Switching:
The first stage is denial
Upon hearing others badmouth Windows, the user reacts with a shocked, "No, its okay. Its got problems but computers have to crash sometimes." This is not a healthy stage, but permits some users to not blindly accept Microsofts BS and develop other defenses.
Next comes anger or resentment
"What makes Mac users think their computer is better than mine? Jerks!" is the question asked now. Abuse, directed against the Mac community (usually on internet message boards and in Comp USA) often is a part of this stage. This outcry should be accepted, unjudged. You cannot reason with somebody in this stage. Facts are lost on them.
The third stage is bargaining
"Windows has problems, but" "If I buy the latest version and install all the patches . . ." This is a period of temporary truce.
The fourth stage is depression
Now the person says, "Yes, Windows sucks and is ruining my life," with the courage to admit that it is happening; this acknowledgment brings depression. (Note: The family rarely goes through the stages along with the user. Rather, they enable the denial and resentment stages)
Finally comes acceptance
The user buys a Mac and demolishes his old PC with a baseball bat, just like the fax machine in Office Space. This is often a difficult time for the family, since the patient tends to withdraw to use his Mac. It is also difficult for the family because they are probably in denial themselves.

I maintain servers and enterprise applications from an infrastructure perspective. I'm involved in upgrading two of those enterprise applications at once and I'm on a tight dead line :(
If that's a tight, dead line, you're outa luck. A tight deadline would at least make it possible. ;)

Oh I understand that... but is 1333 even noticeably faster? Is it worth bothering spending the extra money on 1333mhz RAM over the significantly cheaper 1067?
I think that depends on the CL = cas latency of the RAM sticks.
I just decided to get some CL7 RAM for my i7 2600K build that was a slightly lower bandwidth than the faster speed bandwidth RAM since that was a CL9 and supposedly the CL7 rated out slightly faster (and it was on sale for a little less $$)...

I don't get it either. You can buy Lion when it comes and install it. Yes, it will cost you a bit more but are you sure that you want to wait several months for it? There is also the fact that the first couple of versions will have lots of bugs.
