My passport is expiring in March. I live in NY metro . Does anyone knows the procedure to renew the passport while in the USA. Please share your experience.

Its very easy and simple. Go to NY Indian Embassy web site and follow the procedure/process to renew passport. It takes about 1-2 weeks, after you mail the old passport along with other documents, for Indian Embassy to process and mail you back the new passport. Good Luck!

I think you can apply for I-140 with a copy. As far as I know, you cannot use premium processing though.

I think you can us AP. I did not go for stamping but based on my I-485 filing I know that my case is pending on name check and I came to US using AP so I think you can also come back using AP.

I did get an LUD on my approved I-140 which i am not using for Adjustment of status. I have applied I-140 and I-485 concurrently through a different employer. I am really surprised what caused to trigger LUD on that I-140. I am not asking for priority date port either. Interesting.....

Folks,
It is outrageous that NSC is not churning out any post April 2004 approvals for EB2-I. Is any one is taking any actions?
What can be done?

If you meant India, there is one case @
- mytracker23 India EB2 PD 07/24/2004 approved on Aug 07

If you meant China, there are couple of cases @
- greencard1234 China EB2 PD 03/25/2005
- erlizhinian China EB2 PD 03/26/2005
- evereadyjoe China EB2 PD 11/24/2004

But one thing is for sure, NSC has more ROW cases processed/approved, TSC is primarily going/approving India.

I tried to get info. in http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20710, but no one else reported.

I was hopeful of my case with Aug 2008 visa bulletin, but seeing the rate/pattern of approval @ NSC (post Apr 01, 2004), now I see no hope in Aug/Sep 2008.

Hi,

I will be done with my second master's this July 29. I have two months grace period to leave the country as I already used my OPT after my first master's. I have a job offer and they are willing to do my H1B which starts from October 2011. But my two months grace period will end this september 29. If my H1B is filed in September under Premium processing, will I be in status or out of status for those two days. Did any one face similar problem before. If so, can you please give me the solution?

Here is an extract but please read the entire document carefully from the above link

Q4. How does a student covered under the cap-gap extension obtain proof of continuing status?
A4. The student should go to their Designated School Official (DSO) with evidence of a timely filed H-1B petition (indicating a request for change of status rather than for consular processing), such as a copy of the petition and a FedEx, UPS, or USPS Express/certified mail receipt. The student�s DSO will issue a preliminary cap-gap I-20 showing an extension until June 1.

If the H-1B petition is selected for adjudication, the student should return to his or her DSO with a copy of the petitioning employer�s Form I-797, Notice of Action, with a valid receipt number, indicating that the petition was filed and accepted. The student�s DSO will issue a new cap-gap I-20 indicating the continued extension of F-1 status.

Hello gurus,
I woked with Company A and got my I140 approved(PD sep 04 EB2). I had issue with Company A that they asked me wait to apply my I485 in july 2007 wave. I frustrated and moved to Company B and substitued another labor(PD May-2002 EB3), got theI140 approval and 485 is pending from july 2007. In the Meantime, Company A withdrawn my approved EB2 I140 petition couple of months ago to protect one of their employee I140 petition.

Currently i believe the situvation is not good for EB3 and planned to enable my "Company A" I140 petition to apply for I485. Will USCIS allow company A to enable the withrdrawn I140 petition to apply my I485? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

DAZED: Once your H1B extension is approved, it will expire only on the date shown in I797. Your 485 rejection does not invalidate your H1. BTW, if you use your H1, your H1 is invalid but you will still be able to extend it as long as it has not expired.

Remember its your responsibility to turn in I94s. No one is going to ask you these when you depart the US. Submitting the i94s and using the us visit system enable correct traclking of your entry/departures. Read the instructions on the 1797 it tells you clearly what you need to do.

I just efiled my EAD. (first one, not renewal). Do I need to send any supporting documents?

If so which ones?

They asked about previous EADs and I had 2 of them (one main, other interim 90 day rule) for my OPT after masters. Do I need to send a copy of those?
